Update to Adaptive Icon
(Not a feature request as much as aligning with current Android UI standards.)
Please consider updating to the adaptive icon standard created for Android 8.0+. With your existing simple icon background, this should be pretty easy. You can see Google's guidelines here: https://developer.android.com/guide/practices/ui_guidelines/icon_design_adaptive
Thanks!

Better Home Screen Organization
It would be nice if the app opened to a home screen that showed your folders/notebooks, rather than your individual recently opened notes. This would feel a little bit more organized and easy to access for people like me, who use multiple documents under one "Notebook" for classes and the like.

Rectangular selection tool
When I want to select text, I don't just want to use a lasso. I think it would be very useful to be able to select stuff using a box. Click and drag to make a box over text instead of drawing a circle over everything. I like the lasso but different selection tools would be great.
6 votesYou can now use the Rectangular Selection Tool to quickly select all items within a selection rectangle. We also replaced the previous selection tool with the Lasso Selection Tool, which allows you to select items much more precisely.

Allow arrow keys between pages
I would like to be able to use the arrow keys to navigate between pages rather than having to click on the arrow keys i the navigation bar.
3 votesYou can do this using alt + left/right arrows. FYI, using just left/right (and up/down) arrows by themselves pans around the page. A complete list of shortcuts is available here: http://feedback.squidnotes.com/knowledgebase/articles/1201054.

Support for Google Drive is now available to everyone on Google Play, along with a major update to cloud backup! Backups are now created at the note level, meaning only the notes that were created or edited since the last backup will be uploaded to Drive. As a result, backups are now MUCH faster and can easily resume after being interrupted.
This has been a long time coming, so thanks for your patience. Please try it out and let us know if you have any feedback!
If you're interested specifically in syncing notes between devices using Google Drive, please vote on this idea for updates!

Add ability to import PDFs from Google Drive on a Chromebook
Import PDF files directly from Google Drive on a Chromebook.
95 votesThis is already possible. You just need to install the Google Drive Android app from Google Play on your Chromebook. Please see http://feedback.squidnotes.com/knowledgebase/articles/1874122 for further details.
Some of the comments on this idea appear to be for automatic Drive backup or sync. If that’s what you want, please vote here: http://feedback.squidnotes.com/forums/177239-general/suggestions/6379530.

Alphabetize notebooks when moving notes to folder
When I try to move my notes to a certain folder, the list of folders is arranged in the order it was created without any ability to change the order. I would like to be able to alphabetize this list.
1 voteWhen moving a note to a notebook, the notebook options are sorted to match the way you have chosen to display them in the Notebooks menu (either alphabetically or by creation date).
Please feel free to email us at help@squidnotes.com if you have any questions!

Enlargement of pdf-files on Chromebooks without touchscreen
Older Chromebooks (Chrome OS) without touchscreen have been updated to install android apps. For me, it was not possible to enlarge an imported pdf-document (Format DIN-A-4) without touch-function. Therefore I can not edit pdf-Documents in Squid, because they are too small and I can not enlarge them without touch-function. Please implement a possibility to enlarge them on older chromebooks without touchscreen.
1 voteYou can zoom with pinch-to-zoom on the touchpad!

Add support for the tablet mode split screen feature in Chrome OS
Would like to see support for tablet mode split screen in Chrome OS
13 votesSplit screen is fully supported by Squid. Whether this works on your Chromebook depends on which version of Chrome OS and device you have. In general, this should work on Chrome OS 70. However, it is currently broken on the Pixel Slate (running Chrome OS 71 with Android 9) as well as Chrome OS 72 with Android 9. Both of these issues have been reported to Google and should be fixed in a future update to Chrome OS.
If you ever have any issues with split screen, please email us at help@squidnotes.com and let us know what device and version of Chrome OS you’re on and we’ll let Google know about the issue if we haven’t already.

Add Pages in between Notes
I like being able to annotate .pdf versions of my professor's slides, however, if I want to add more notes, I have to go all the way to the end of the file, then add a page, then drag it to the right spot. It would be so much easier if I could just add a blank page right after my current page.
11 votesThis is already possible (as Tony mentioned in the comments). Just long press the current page number to insert a page or PDF before the current page. Please see http://feedback.squidnotes.com/knowledgebase/articles/501193 and http://feedback.squidnotes.com/knowledgebase/articles/1136155

Make True Selection/Lasso Tool
Selection/Lasso tool should select only what has been selected rather than a rectangular area.
172 votesYou can now precisely select objects with the new Lasso Selection Tool! To retain the previous functionality, we also added a Rectangular Selection Tool, which simply selects everything inside the rectangle.

Allow to confirm new note title with keyboard
Squid is an awesome app! Thanks a lot for building it.
When renaming a note by tapping the input box in the action bar (while editing the note) a dialog appears, asking you for the new note title.
The EditText in the dialog is already selected, putting the cursor at the very end (which is nice for modifying the title). However, when pressing the Enter key on an attached hardware keyboad, the newly entered title is not accepted, but the cancel button is highlighted (which is the wrong default one would accept when pressing enter).
This is actually an issue…

Export in native format
This would allow a user to edit notes between devices. For example create a note on Tab A and export to a Dropbox folder and then open and edit on Note 7 phone also running Squid. You can export to .pdf but then editing cannot be done on the original.
64 votesYou can now export and import notes in the new Squid Note (.squidnote) file format! This allows notes to be backed up and shared between devices and people in their original editable format.

Add additional pages from a 2nd or 3rd PDF
I currently do field surveys using squid. I am able to create a document using 1,2, or 3 page pdf templates. I can add additional note pages, but it would be awesome to pull in additional pdf files, in case I have to add more findings, rather than create additional reports and then export to a pc to combine the pdfs into 1 using adobe products.
1 voteYou can do this by long pressing on the current page number while in a note and choosing Import PDF. We’re working on ways to make this more discoverable. :)

Share into Squid
Like when I take a screenshot in my android phone, press share, into squid, write a note, wonderful! There are a lot of other apps I can Share a screenshot into/ through, but Squid is not there, at least not on my device...

Make Squid a default for opening PDFs
In the list of default apps that can open PDFs, I did not see squid listed. This means that each time I want to open a PDF, I have to open squid and import PDF. Then I have to search through all my files for the correct PDF. This seems like a waste of time. Do you think you could make squid available as one of the default PDF programs?
3 votesSquid should show up as an option when opening a PDF from another app. If it doesn’t, please contact support at help@squidnotes.com so we can investigate.
