You can add a shortcut to your Home Screen to open a specific notebook (see http://feedback.squidnotes.com/knowledgebase/articles/1179331) or to create a new note in a specific notebook (see http://feedback.squidnotes.com/knowledgebase/articles/1179328).
It does not appear to be possible to create a widget that allows for taking handwritten notes directly on the Home Screen (due to the fact that you need to be able to swipe left/right to get to different pages on your Home Screen). Please vote here if you’re interested in a widget that shows a particular note on your Home Screen (and allows you to open it quickly to edit it).
An error occurred while saving the comment @Andreas We would have loved to keep the name Papyrus! I completely agree that it's a more meaningful name. Unfortunately, we were forced to change it and Squid is what we chose in the short time we had.

We don’t disagree that there is a market for a cross-platform handwritten note taking app! We would love for Squid to be available on all platforms. We’re a small team and we don’t currently have the resources to expand to Windows (or iOS). We hope this will change someday!

I wanted to provide an update on this in light of our recent major update to make backups work at the note level along with our new support for Google Drive. These were both major milestones on the way to support sync. Now that backups work at the note level, we plan to continue our work to build a sync solution that works across devices using cloud storage provides like Google Drive, Dropbox, and Box. The advantage to this approach is that we continue to have zero access to your note data. Everything lives on your device and your selected cloud storage provider. However, this also means the solution must be resilient to users modifying data in the cloud (intentional or not). We don't have an ETA yet, but this continues to be one of our highest priorities. We really appreciate your patience and feedback on this idea!
An error occurred while saving the comment @Sean Ferguson No news. I 100% agree with you though. Syncing is a big thing. It would be awesome to sync notes between devices, especially now with Android apps coming to Chromebooks.
As I've mentioned, this is something that's constantly at the top of our minds and that we're continually investigating. It's really difficult to do correctly and we want to do it right.
I know that's not the answer you want to hear, but rest assured, this is just as important to us as it is to you all (if not more so). We wish we had sync years ago! But alas, it's not that simple.

As Olivia mentioned, many of these features already exist in Squid. In general, we request that ideas are focused on a specific feature rather than containing several ideas in one. Instead of closing this idea, I'm going to merge it with "Export specific pages of note" (http://feedback.squidnotes.com/forums/177239/suggestions/33832888).
If you'd like to vote on adding the ability to move/reorder multiple pages in a note at once, please do so here: http://feedback.squidnotes.com/forums/177239/suggestions/33038426
If you'd like to vote on adding the ability to merge two notes together, please do so here: http://feedback.squidnotes.com/forums/177239/suggestions/5963951
FYI, if you'd like to be able to import multiple PDFs into a single note, this is already possible. Please see this FAQ article: http://feedback.squidnotes.com/knowledgebase/articles/1136155 (section 2. While inside an existing note).
