Make True Selection/Lasso Tool
Selection/Lasso tool should select only what has been selected rather than a rectangular area.
You can now precisely select objects with the new Lasso Selection Tool! To retain the previous functionality, we also added a Rectangular Selection Tool, which simply selects everything inside the rectangle.

For God shake, why do you insist in keeping that rectangle box! Dont you see its much easier logical to keep the drawn shape with the lasso... This app is so frustrating, but the only one in android with PDF cloud backup apparently...

This isn't even a feature request, it's a bug and an incredibly irritating one at that. Demo: https://imgur.com/a/jxbiTvZ
It's weird how polished Squid is on one side and then there's this. If it's meant to be a square selection, why would you go through the effort of creating the lasso tool? As an elaborate prank?

This is a fake lasso tool, I would say

This app is fantastic, but the selection tool suck if compared to competitors!

Absolutely!
I hope to optimize the selection tool. The existing selection tool can select the content surrounded by a rectangle which is originated from choosing handwriting, as shown in the video 1, but it leads to the problem. The word, which their subject is not in the same lines, such as, "lag", is difficult to be all selected seamlessly and perfectly, can also lead to select the content in other lines, hope you can change the way. For example, choosing the all content which the choosing handwriting pass is better way.

It's very hard to select things just using a rectangle. I'm able to draw freeform but it does not select in freeform.
it gets everything on the equal plane X maximum and Y maximum. I only want to select what I Circle not things to the left and right of it if I'm coming down at an angle. -

Agreed. I was under the impression for weeks that I was using a lasso tool and so was going to some painstaking effort at times to exactly encircle objects. When small extra bits showed up upon pasting, I assumed it was because I wasn't a good enough lasso-er.
Now that I see it's a rectangle selection, it's both saving me the effort of being so exact while also making me more aware of how useful a lasso would be.
Really, it would be great to have both. -

don't know why, but I believe I remember a time when papyrus was using a real lasso tool that permit slalom between shapes and selecting only what was totaly in the lasso-ed contour.
this tool is really missing ... I'm sure it have worked this way before. so please restore it. thanks

Even if it looks like we're selecting whatever we want, it is in fact selecting a rectangular area. It would be much better if we could really select a circular or for example a T shaped area. Because sometimes when I try to select something, it also selects the other things near or next to it even when they are not touching. So please split the selection tool into two parts: rectangular and free (where we can select things separately) . Thank you

This idea have been requested 6 years ago, but does not implemented yet. I think this feature is very important since this tool is the heart of notepad app.

I second that. The fake lasso is a pain to use.

Wow. Comments from 2013. Is it really that hard to implement this?

But it does already work as you request !

The selection tool currently implemented is not very handy. A lasso tool would be better.

Please improve this ! now to move some text, you have to copy the rectangle, paste it and then delete all the superfluous ... big waste of time

I agree, don't like how the selection that I draw does not actually reflect what is being selected. If this was implemented as a feature to try to make selecting faster, we definitely need the option to disable that.

This whould be easy to implement, I don't know whats taking so long
Make a separate rectangle selection tool and make the lasso a real lasso selection tool
