Automatically change Cloud backup Cloud folder to value of Restored backup when restoring an existing backup from cloud
I have several different Cloud backup folders to separate notes of different topics. Before I work on any document in a folder of choice, I Restore said folder to make sure I have the latest (as it may have been saved from another device since I opened it on my current device). I then make any desired changes to the notes in question and execute a manual backup before leaving Squid (so other devices can Restore and see the latest updates).
I had an incident where I created a new Folder (we will call it FOLDER-2 for reference here) to…
1 voteThanks for this feature request! The Cloud Backup Restore process has been updated to include the option to change the current Cloud Folder to the backup being restored. Please give it a try and let us know what you think!

https (TLS encryption) for site feedback.squidnotes.com
For users' security, the site feedback.squidnotes.com should use HTTPS.
1 voteThanks so much for this request! Unfortunately, we couldn't use TLS on feedback.squidnotes.com, but we've transitioned the Knowledgebase to https://help.squidnotes.com and the feature request site is now available at https://papyrus.uservoice.com. We're also looking into transitioning the feature request site to another platform where we can use TLS with our custom domain.

Add an option to see all notes you haven't placed into notebooks yet.
Hello!
I'm an OCD album user. Everything has a place & everything MUST be in its place. Google photos makes me deathly ill due to this - it's just a graveyard where my photos go to die, so don't be like them.
-----Here's how:------
-You already have options to view Recent Notes,
All Notes & a list of notebooks, however you do NOT HAVE it where I can see what notes I haven't put into notebooks yet
-Call this view pg whatever you want, but for now I'll use the labels you have
1 Start w/ All Notes
2 Select…3 votesYou can achieve this by clicking "Unfiled Notes" in the app drawer.

Update to Adaptive Icon
(Not a feature request as much as aligning with current Android UI standards.)
Please consider updating to the adaptive icon standard created for Android 8.0+. With your existing simple icon background, this should be pretty easy. You can see Google's guidelines here: https://developer.android.com/guide/practices/ui_guidelines/icon_design_adaptive
Thanks!

List view option
Having many notes makes looking for one difficult, a list view option on top of the current thumbnail view could be useful
55 votesList view is now available to everyone in the Squid10 Preview! Just update to the latest version of Squid and tap "Try Squid10".
Folders and notes can toggle between list and grid views individually.

Better Home Screen Organization
It would be nice if the app opened to a home screen that showed your folders/notebooks, rather than your individual recently opened notes. This would feel a little bit more organized and easy to access for people like me, who use multiple documents under one "Notebook" for classes and the like.

Rectangular selection tool
When I want to select text, I don't just want to use a lasso. I think it would be very useful to be able to select stuff using a box. Click and drag to make a box over text instead of drawing a circle over everything. I like the lasso but different selection tools would be great.
6 votesYou can now use the Rectangular Selection Tool to quickly select all items within a selection rectangle. We also replaced the previous selection tool with the Lasso Selection Tool, which allows you to select items much more precisely.

Allow arrow keys between pages
I would like to be able to use the arrow keys to navigate between pages rather than having to click on the arrow keys i the navigation bar.
3 votesYou can do this using alt + left/right arrows. FYI, using just left/right (and up/down) arrows by themselves pans around the page. A complete list of shortcuts is available here: http://feedback.squidnotes.com/knowledgebase/articles/1201054.

Support for Google Drive is now available to everyone on Google Play, along with a major update to cloud backup! Backups are now created at the note level, meaning only the notes that were created or edited since the last backup will be uploaded to Drive. As a result, backups are now MUCH faster and can easily resume after being interrupted.
This has been a long time coming, so thanks for your patience. Please try it out and let us know if you have any feedback!
If you're interested specifically in syncing notes between devices using Google Drive, please vote on this idea for updates!

Add ability to import PDFs from Google Drive on a Chromebook
Import PDF files directly from Google Drive on a Chromebook.
95 votesThis is already possible. You just need to install the Google Drive Android app from Google Play on your Chromebook. Please see http://feedback.squidnotes.com/knowledgebase/articles/1874122 for further details.
Some of the comments on this idea appear to be for automatic Drive backup or sync. If that’s what you want, please vote here: http://feedback.squidnotes.com/forums/177239-general/suggestions/6379530.

Alphabetize notebooks when moving notes to folder
When I try to move my notes to a certain folder, the list of folders is arranged in the order it was created without any ability to change the order. I would like to be able to alphabetize this list.
1 voteWhen moving a note to a notebook, the notebook options are sorted to match the way you have chosen to display them in the Notebooks menu (either alphabetically or by creation date).
Please feel free to email us at help@squidnotes.com if you have any questions!

undo and redo
the app has a CTRL-Z undo feature but there's no CTRL-Y redo feature
too many times I've deleted whole notes and not been able to bring them back1 voteThe keyboard shortcut for redo is Ctrl + Shift + Z. FYI, you can also tap the redo (and undo) buttons in the action bar at the top. Please see this FAQ article for a list of keyboard shortcuts: http://feedback.squidnotes.com/knowledgebase/articles/1201054

Deactivating return button while taking notes
It would be great to have the option to deactivate the return button while note taking to avoid accidentally closing the app
1 voteThere’s an option to “Disable back button” in the Squid settings under Note editor.

Enlargement of pdf-files on Chromebooks without touchscreen
Older Chromebooks (Chrome OS) without touchscreen have been updated to install android apps. For me, it was not possible to enlarge an imported pdf-document (Format DIN-A-4) without touch-function. Therefore I can not edit pdf-Documents in Squid, because they are too small and I can not enlarge them without touch-function. Please implement a possibility to enlarge them on older chromebooks without touchscreen.
1 voteYou can zoom with pinch-to-zoom on the touchpad!

For God's sake can someone give us a note with a black background?
You have a pretty awesome app but it lacks what all the rest lack - a dark (black) background.
You need to beat competition...most people want that.3 votesAs Tony described in the comments, this is already possible. Either create a new note with a blank background and choose the desired color, or change the background of an existing page by going to the Page Settings.

Add support for the tablet mode split screen feature in Chrome OS
Would like to see support for tablet mode split screen in Chrome OS
13 votesSplit screen is fully supported by Squid. Whether this works on your Chromebook depends on which version of Chrome OS and device you have. In general, this should work on Chrome OS 70. However, it is currently broken on the Pixel Slate (running Chrome OS 71 with Android 9) as well as Chrome OS 72 with Android 9. Both of these issues have been reported to Google and should be fixed in a future update to Chrome OS.
If you ever have any issues with split screen, please email us at help@squidnotes.com and let us know what device and version of Chrome OS you’re on and we’ll let Google know about the issue if we haven’t already.
