It’s still on our todo list to support this directly, but I wanted to mention that it’s currently possible to password protect a note in a roundabout way: by importing a password protected PDF into the note. This will password protect the note with the password of the PDF. You can even delete the PDF from the note and the password will remain on the note.

This is something we're investigating while designing the Squid10 note editor.
As mentioned previously, this is challenging since notes in Squid can contain both fixed and infinite sized pages, but we have some ideas to make this work that we will be exploring.

Save a symbol to a button on the tool menu so that I can insert it later.
I would like to be able to draw a symbol like --> or |-> (obviously stylized) so that I can better visualize lists. The idea would be to be able to draw your symbol and save it in a button drop down like the pen tool or color selection. This could allow users to have symbols their eyes would naturally flow towards across multiple notes.
