Quick draw / auto shape detection for lines, circles, and other shapes
Auto shape detection. This is especially very important for lines. Notability in iOS has this. If you draw a line and hold it for a second it will become a straight line that you can adjust. Simple convert to shapes will do for rest of the shapes. Best note taking app on the market, my GPA (civil engineer) went up 0.5 just thanks to you guys. Well done !

Thanks for sharing this insightful post! The generative AI space is moving incredibly fast right now, especially in video creation. If anyone is looking to experiment with high-quality text-to-video or image-to-video generation, I highly recommend trying out the Wan 2.7 model. I've found a very straightforward and accessible platform for it that streamlines the whole process. Definitely worth exploring for creators and developers in this niche. I completely agree with this suggestion. Auto shape detection would be a great addition, especially for straight lines and basic shapes. The “draw and hold to straighten” feature used in other apps like Notability makes note-taking much faster and cleaner, particularly for students who often draw diagrams, graphs, or technical sketches.
It would definitely improve the workflow for people in fields like engineering, math, and design. Squid is already a fantastic note-taking app, and adding smart shape detection would make it even more powerful for academic and professional use. Great work by the team so far!

Please add auto-shape detection like Notability: draw a line/circle/shape, hold briefly and it auto-converts to a perfect, editable shape (adjustable endpoints/curvature). Prioritize straight-line snapping and easy node/handle adjustments. This would make note-taking and sketches much cleaner and faster — hugely helpful for students and engineers.

Absolutely! Quick draw or auto-shape detection for lines, circles, and other shapes would make note-taking much faster and precise. Especially for engineering or design work, being able to hold a drawn line to convert it into a perfect straight line (like Notability on iOS) is a game-changer.

Absolutely need this feature, why not nobody take this idea seriously? For example Noteshelf has this feature...

Took me a while to get my shape placed right, as had to keep deleting it and trying again. Much friendlier to adjust dimensions after placement.

A function which changes any shape drawn by hand (line, circle, polygon, etc.) into a "perfect"/neat version of the shape.
