   I would love to be able to import PDFs into the "infinite page" Note type. Imagine importing an exercise sheet vertically into the note, and then solving the problems alongside the pdf. Often annotating pdfs with answers leaves no room for working.

   Financial proposals live at the crossroads of design and precision. They should look polished enough to impress, but more importantly, their numbers must be watertight. In my work, I’ve seen brilliant ideas lose traction just because a small calculation error slipped through into the final document. Papyrus is one of the most capable and my favorite tools to create clean, professional templates, but when it comes to number handling, there’s still a gap.

   The Numbers Challenge in a Design-First Environment

   Papyrus is good at creating professional-looking proposals. The layout engine is intuitive, the templates are flexible, and the result often rivals what you’d get from a design studio. But financial proposals aren’t just about layout, they need credibility.

   Numbers change constantly in negotiations:

   • A revenue line may get cut after a client meeting.
   • A percentage discount may get adjusted mid-discussion.
   • A margin recalculation may need to happen on the spot.

   The problem isn’t that Papyrus can’t display these numbers well, but it doesn’t currently provide a frictionless way to validate them during the editing process.

   When you’re on a deadline, the temptation is to “trust the spreadsheet” where the numbers came from. But proposals evolve. Once you start reformatting, customizing and tailoring the content, it’s surprisingly easy to introduce small errors such as a misplaced percentage, an outdated tax rate, or a line item that didn’t get updated when everything else did.

   Why Small Calculation Errors Can Be Big Problems

   In everyday life, a rounding mistake might not matter but in a financial proposal, it can be disastrous. A client scanning your proposal may not care about the graphic design choices, but they will almost certainly notice if your total profit margin doesn’t add up.

   I’ve seen deals delayed, or worse, rejected, because of basic numerical inconsistencies. A 2% error in projected returns may seem insignificant when drafting, but for a decision maker, it raises questions about whether the underlying financial model is reliable. Trust evaporates quickly.

   My Workaround: Validating Numbers Before They Go Into Papyrus

   Over time, I’ve built a habit that has saved me from several red-faced corrections. Before I enter or update any key figures inside Papyrus, I run them through a quick validation step.

   Now, this doesn’t require heavyweight financial software. I don’t need pivot tables or forecast models for this stage — that work is usually done in Excel beforehand. What I need in the moment is speed and focus: a way to confirm that a discount applied to an invoice line or a margin percentage recalculated after revisions still makes sense.

   For that, I often keep a browser tab open with a free online calculator because these tools helped me a lot with quick processes. If I’m revising a percentage allocation or double-checking the numbers in a summary table match the underlying assumptions, I can confirm it in seconds without breaking my writing flow.

   Where Papyrus Could Improve

   Papyrus has already blurred the line between document design and productivity software. Adding a simple calculation widget inside the editor would be a natural extension of this. Nothing too complex, just a small utility that lets you run basic arithmetic, percentages, and ratios without leaving the editing environment.

   So rather than toggling between tabs or devices, you could confirm numbers right inside the workspace. It’s a small feature, but for professionals who live in financial documents, it would save hours a year.

   Lessons From Real-World Proposal Workflows

   One story that sticks with me: I was finalizing a client proposal late at night. The design looked great, the tables were aligned and the executive summary was strong. Just before sending, I ran a quick check on the numbers. A supposedly “20% discount” was actually 19.6%. A small mistake, but enough to raise questions during negotiations.

   Catching that mistake required less than 30 seconds with a calculator, but it prevented what could have been a credibility issue in front of the client. Since then, I’ve never skipped the validation step.

   What I’ve learned is that financial proposals don’t fail because they’re unattractive, but because they’re inconsistent. And inconsistency mostly sneaks in at the smallest level: a decimal point, a misapplied percentage, or a transposed figure.

   Papyrus has already changed the way professionals design and present proposals. The templates are flexible, the formatting is beautiful, and the usability is high. But design is only half the battle. The other half is to ensure every number, no matter how small, holds up to scrutiny.

    Here are my feature suggestions:

    1. Zoom Writing Assistant Box – Similar to Samsung Notes, a floating zoom box where users write comfortably, and the writing appears neatly in a smaller area on the main note. It scrolls automatically and can be moved anywhere on the page.

    2. Auto Convert Handwriting to Text – A real-time toggle that automatically converts a sentence to clean typed text immediately after writing it.

    3. Voice Dictation Integration – A built-in voice-to-text option to speak and insert typed text directly into notes (helpful during lectures or brainstorming).

    4. Gesture-Based Tool Switching – Enable simple gestures like swipe left to undo, swipe right to redo, or long press to switch between pen and eraser — this would make writing with fingers much easier.

    5. Smart Ruler and Drawing Tools – Add tools like a digital ruler, compass, and protractor for students who take math or technical subject notes.

    6. Sticky Notes or Planner Mode – Let users insert mini sticky notes or use built-in school planner templates (weekly schedule, homework tracker, etc.).

    7. Hold-to-Snap into Shapes or Straight Lines – Similar to apps like Samsung Notes or GoodNotes: when a user draws a shape or line and holds the pen down briefly, it auto-corrects it into a perfect version (like a straight line, square, or circle). This helps make diagrams and notes look neater.
