Subject: Feature Suggestions to Improve Squid Notes for Non-S Pen Users
Hi Squid Team,
I’m a big fan of your app and use it every day as a student. I currently use a basic disc-tip stylus (not an S Pen) and sometimes even write with my finger. I love how smooth Squid is for handwritten notes, but I wanted to suggest a few features that could make the app even better — especially for users like me who don’t have advanced stylus support.
Here are my feature suggestions:
Zoom Writing Assistant Box – Similar to Samsung Notes, a floating zoom box where users write comfortably, and the writing appears neatly in a smaller area on the main note. It scrolls automatically and can be moved anywhere on the page.
Auto Convert Handwriting to Text – A real-time toggle that automatically converts a sentence to clean typed text immediately after writing it.
Voice Dictation Integration – A built-in voice-to-text option to speak and insert typed text directly into notes (helpful during lectures or brainstorming).
Gesture-Based Tool Switching – Enable simple gestures like swipe left to undo, swipe right to redo, or long press to switch between pen and eraser — this would make writing with fingers much easier.
Smart Ruler and Drawing Tools – Add tools like a digital ruler, compass, and protractor for students who take math or technical subject notes.
Sticky Notes or Planner Mode – Let users insert mini sticky notes or use built-in school planner templates (weekly schedule, homework tracker, etc.).
Hold-to-Snap into Shapes or Straight Lines – Similar to apps like Samsung Notes or GoodNotes: when a user draws a shape or line and holds the pen down briefly, it auto-corrects it into a perfect version (like a straight line, square, or circle). This helps make diagrams and notes look neater.
I believe these features would be really helpful for students, especially those working on phones or tablets without premium stylus support. Thanks so much for creating such an awesome note-taking app, and I hope you consider some of these ideas!
Keep up the great work
