One of the major problems with other note taking applications is this function. The main reason this program is amazing is because it does not use this feature. Often times snote or one note miss interprets mathematical operators. Handwriting to text is not "natural note taking."

I'd like to make Peter Barrette's words mine too. Providing handwriting-to-text conversion would be amazing if you'd ever need to search for content. I believe Papyrus would be the best on its class if it had this feature.

+1 that.

The handwriting tool built into the Note is pretty darn good. Try it out... it's an option on the stock Samsung keyboard.

Get the tool pack then you can type in the note!

I'd like to see that feature as well. I actually use S-Note for when I need that feature.

Yes!
One addition to the description....do not move the text. Make it convert the text in place.
In the S-Note app (2014 addition), if you have something like a diagram with various parts labelled and you select the whole thing for handwriting-to-text conversion, it would push all of the words from the whole diagram together into one location.
(Side note: the related S-Note feature of converting drawings into nice shapes is pretty cool too).

Yes!! I'll buy that!
But, not just for searching, need to export for word processing -

I would be happy with post-processed handwriting recognition. In fact, I would prefer that the handwriting remain in the display, while the recognized text is attached to the page as metadata that is editable in an alternate view.
The idea is that my handwriting, drawings, images are preserved as drawn, but the textual content of the note becomes searchable. That should be easily doable as a post processing operation while relieving the developers of the difficult task of reformatting the screen view after conversion to text.

I actually thought handwriting to text recognition was one of the features when I bought it. Very disappointing. I like the interface better than Snote, but without this regognition, this app is useless.

That's what I want!
-> best allow user to select all or part of the note to convert
-> integration with VtigerCRM would be a great great feature! -

In short, I want a decent replacement for S-Note where it OCRs my handwriting and turns it into text. Perhaps there's some OCR library out there you can call to make this easy to implement?
