Sync between devices
I would like to have my notes automatically appear on my other devices with Squid installed. e.g. Create a note on device A and it appears on device B. If possible allow editing too from that device.
I wanted to provide an update on this in light of our recent major update to make backups work at the note level along with our new support for Google Drive. These were both major milestones on the way to support sync. Now that backups work at the note level, we plan to continue our work to build a sync solution that works across devices using cloud storage provides like Google Drive, Dropbox, and Box. The advantage to this approach is that we continue to have zero access to your note data. Everything lives on your device and your selected cloud storage provider. However, this also means the solution must be resilient to users modifying data in the cloud (intentional or not). We don't have an ETA yet, but this continues to be one of our highest priorities. We really appreciate your patience and feedback on this idea!

Google Drive backup and restore work around:
1. I use Autosync Google Drive on my chromebook and Samsung Note 9
2. I use a HP Chromebook X2 all day at work with Squid
3. At the end of the work day, I do a local backup to a folder on my chromebook
4. Autosync Google Drive uploads my Squid database file to Google Drive
5. Autosync Google Drive downloads my Squid database file to my phone
6. I restore local backup for Squid using my phone
7. Make edits on phone. When I'm done using the phone Squid app, I do a local backup to a folder on my phone
8. Autosync Google Drive uploads my Squid database file to Google Drive
9. Autosync Google Drive downloads my Squid database file to my chromebook
10. I restore local backup for Squid using my chromebookThis is how I sync back and forth between my chromebook and my phone. I also use the Dropbox backup and restore feature sometime, but Autosync for Google Drive uploads and downloads in the background.

Metamoji Note allows auto sync between devices when using the Gold Service subscription. Their lack of active stylus support and cumbersome PDF export are what keeps me using Squid. I would pay Squid extra money for auto sync of notes.

I can manually sync between devices by using the settings backup and restore, but this is cumbersome and takes a little while because my Squid database file is 250 MB. If there was sync button when you first open the app (like someone previously suggested) and it only synced the notes that needed to be updated, that would be great. This could then evolve to auto sync.

Just subscribed to premium, and surprised to find this still hasn't been implemented. A rough workaround, for those that would like same ability to synchronise between devices, is to manually change the "Device name" within the Backup and Restore settings to be the same for both devices. I've used "google Combined Devices" on my phone and Chromebook, so both devices will look into the same linked Dropbox account for backup. Backup from one device, then restore on the other device.

This function, together with an app for windows and one for ios, is the basic requirement to make the switch from onenote, nowadays it is impossible to use an app only on a single device.

come on, it's essential, please!

I need this so bad. This is why I keep going back to OneNote even though it has latency issues. I may even have to give Evernote a try. That tells you how desperate I am for this feature.

I know this is an age old thread and I doubt the admin would read my comment but I hope they do. For the live sync, if we would be able to manually sync using cloud sync, why don't you make it automatic at least so that I can save with one click right from the editor and whenever I launch an app on different device, the app would automatically update (import) the latest version. It would eas off the hurdle of syncing manually from setting.

What's the deal with this? Squid is the best note taking app out there, but without sync capability, it is useless - I hate to do it, but I'm going to delete this app because it belongs in the trash without being able to view my notes across devices. It's one of (if not the only) notes apps that does not integrate this basic feature.

Hi. Just tried your apllication and want to say it is really nice! Thank you. Still, weak sync is really a problem. Let me suggest a simple solution to it. Why not automatically save and load notes as PDFs in user-defined folder on a local file system? That is it, dead simple. There are many stand-alone sync services and they can do the device-to-device transfer. rsync, Syncthing, Dropbox - to name a few, so no need to duplicate functionality. Just local file system support, as 20 years ago. I would pay for that twice.

Creo importantísima la sincronización entre tablet y teléfono, si es la misma cuenta. Me gusta Squid, lo comparo con otros similares, y siempre vuelvo a Squid. Si consiguen ésto sería la mejor app de su género sin ninguna duda.

I already voted on the original topic. So crazy that the feature request was created over 5 years ago and there has been no progress. I would think we'd at least be given read-only access so we don't have to go through export function just to view our documents on our Pixel phones.

Any updates on this feature? The last post from a Dev was 3 years ago...
This is a basic feature necessary for any major notaking application. Evernote, OneNote, Notebook, + others.
The current back up feature is useless because you have to keep restoring and backing up from different devices. It is extremely outdated.
This feature would really make this app much more usable by students and proffessionals who need to access their work from different places. It is a deal breaker for many who would just move to oneNote.
Everything else about this app is superior so it is a shame there is a fatal flaw. Please update your users on the progress of this extremely important feature before they all move to another platform.

This seems like its reasonably easy to implement to me - just store the notebooks in a local directory that syncs with Google drive. Just move the location of the data files in your code. Surely that's not too much work? Whip through it in vim in a few minutes!

Wow! I'm really surprised that our notes don't sync at all - especially for premium users. I'd like to at least be able to view the notes without having to export them.

geez, you have over 1000 votes here, and certainly many more that havent found this forum. just make a crowdfunding and hire a specialist to implement it, if its too dificult for your team.

Oh my goodness, add me to your long list of people who must have sync capability for Squid to work for me. I, too, had been getting super excited over finally finding this app and so disappointed to find out syncing is not standard operating procedure already! Please find a way...
