Drag and drop palette
This addresses the shortcomings of the cumbersome "choose image" feature by expanding to an "always open" palette.
It would build off of "shape tools" but it would be the ability to have a constant menu of "shapes" open in a "drag and drop/resize" format. This could mean many different kinds of menus... like greek/math-syntax, map symbols, etc.
I can absolutely say that the appeal for technical disciplines would go up dramatically from its already high level... if you had the ability make or download menus of various kinds of symbols.

Make intents public for tasker integration
Specifically trying to may the right keyboard key to the next page button, but if all intents were made public and documents, it basically works as an API for tasker and other applications

Full size page as thumbnail
Would it be possible to add a feature that shows the whole first page in the thumbnail? Right now the thumbnail is zoomed to the scale with which I closed the note.

Virtual scales similar to zoom notes from iPad
There is virtual scale feature in iOS apps like zoom notes, in which you can select Rectangle or Linear scale or Semi circle or Circle or Square and you resize these scales with hands and can draw them with pen or stylus and can pan with fingers. Adding this feature to squid will be awesome.

Bckup redunancy
It would be great if there were an option to keep the last X number of backups so there is some redunancy in your cloud backups. For example, I could back up daily and keep the last 7 backups so I have 1 weeks worth of backups to restore from if an error is made.

Change transparent background when scrolling with monochromatic color
Transparent grill when scrolling or zooming is very annoying, if possible change or add an option to change the transparent background grill with monochromatic one (such as grey)

Quick method of enabling/disabling presentation mode
I see the enable/disable presentation mode in settings. However, when teaching/presenting, i often switch to playing back videos or showing live demos with the camera. right now my process is:
- exit pdf by tapping '<-'
- pull out menu options
- tap the settings icon
- tap casting and presenting
- tap enable <then, select the video/camera app, play video, and switch back to papyrus>
- tap enable
- close settings
- tap to select pdf
This is way better than what i was doing before i knew about the enable/disable presenter mode option (quit squid, disconnect display, reconnect display, show video, etc) but it gets tedious when i do it every few minutes, and it would be really nice if the option were right there in the casting button next to start/stop presentation option that shows or hides the squid splash screen
Thanks!!

Allow a screen recording feature
Android needs a quality whiteboard recording app. Squid is a high quality note taking app that can be a great presentation app when used live. Allowing a screen recording feature would allow for an awesome presentation app anytime.

Detect & conform to, or if not, give user control over presented aspect ratio
When in presentation mode, papyrus (or android, perhaps) letterboxes or pillarboxes the tablet to fit the presentation display.
My personal perspective is that the whole point of the presentation is the viewers, their view should take priority, and the tablet view should be boxed. If there's no user setting, then that should be the default.
My current workaround is to present only PDFs and instead of creating a new page, I import a blank 16x9 pdf which properly appears on the casted display.

Allow importing an image as a page background
Import an image and use it as a page background.
102 votesPlease comment here how you would expect this to work. An image doesn’t have an inherent size. Would you want the page size to match the dimensions of the image exactly? Or would you want the page size to be a standard size with the image fit to it as best as possible (with blank space around the image)? Or something else?

Dropbox application name should be changed
The application name when you connect to Dropbox needs updating - it says Papyrus, which is a bit confusing to a new user like me!

Quick color selection panel (free-floating or static)
Selecting a new color while in a fast paced note taking environment is cumbersome to say the least. It's too many clicks to switch from one color to a new one then back again. This can be solved by either allowing tablets to have some color circle choices spread out over the top menu bar area (tons of empty space up there) or have a little floating panel with a few "favorite" colors to quickly tap and go.
Take for instance, to choose a new color you have to:
*Tap the color circle drop down menu
*Choose new color
*Tap back on the screen to close menu
*Write a little (mostly use color for emphasis on a word/line)
*repeat above steps to get back to other colorOne click is all it should take to swap out a color. Adding a few color circles at the top for quick select seems like a simple solution with a lot of added value.
