I use papyrus all the time for work. But i need to archive my older notebooks or make them hidden. The clutter grows as i use it and i may have to look at an alternate tool which would be sad because everything else just works

Search for papyrus in windows phone ( youtube ) is amazing! Why is so hard to do the same in android? Sorry for my poor English.

I use this app to take notes in college. The ability to add notebooks to a folder to separate the different classes/semesters/years would make this app a lot less cluttered for those of us that use it frequently.

Come on guys. You need to move faster on this product or open its source for public contribution. This one is the second-highest voted idea and it looks to me like the highest voted idea has been in this list since 2012. The capability to add metadata to notes is a trivial but necessary addition to elevate papyrus to become a professional tool.

This is an excellent start, but you can't stand still in software.

YES YES YES I've been waiting years for this one search or tag feature! Please - It also lags to scroll through a massive list of notes. Even list view!

I would like to be able to move notes around with in a note book

Since we are talking about note organization, I suggest to also implement the possibility to place bookmarks / chapters into the notes. These bookmarks should also be selectable in the PDF exports of the notes (same as in PDF exported Word or LibreOffice Write documents). This way the user can jump between several points in the same note.
This idea may be extended into a more complex feature, which would allow to use the bookmarks also as tags for several notes. Example: I use the bookmark "method" in several documents, so the (potential) tag manager of Papyrus could tell me which of my notes has the bookmark "method" and can directly jump to the respective passages selected between all my notes.

OK, this sounds like pretty much, but I hope that there are or this gives some useful ideas...

Glad to see that this feature request is being taken seriously at long last. Without some way of better organization of notes and notebooks, this product cannot scale, and is useless for those of us wishing to use this product extensively for things like school and research. If you are going to use labels instead of nested folders, please allow for organizing and viewing labels hierarchically, similar to gmail. If, as you suggest, simple nesting of folders is not the right solution, neither is simple addition of tags--this can only push back the issue, as tags also can become unwieldy at large scales if not organized. *Organization* is what is needed, and labeling alone might not fit the bill.

Consider the case of students, who have many classes, of various subjects. Notes can be grouped not only by course, but also by general subject area, by semester, and by year. Then add further academic research projects, which themselves may overlap with courses or be separate subjects. Tags can help organize this much better than folders, but after a few years of school and research, the tags themselves need organized, or the whole thing can become a tangled mess that can only be navigated by a search engine. Try as we might, we can never completely escape the need for some hierarchically organized data.

However, even the simple addition of tags alone would be a major improvement of this product, a feature which could be extended in the future.

Thanks for your feedback Peter. Yes, we wanted to merge similar ideas of additional notebook organization to keep the votes and comments in one place. This includes ideas for sub-folders/notebooks, tags/labels, etc. We're still investigating the best way to implement this and would love to hear everyone's feedback on the topic.

I agree that simple nested folders/notebooks is probably not the right solution. On Papyrus for Windows we introduced labels for notes (where a note can be part of more than one label).

I see you've been merging ideas. There is consolidation of suggestions from people wanting to have folders with subfolders.

The tagging idea here (which I strongly support) is a slightly more sophisticated implementation of the same thing and you could almost certainly satisfy both requirements with one set of code changes. Please don't miss the opportunity!!

I see you merged suggestions. Please don't make the mistake of implementing only a simple folder solution. It would be such a lost opportunity. Tagging and the intelligent use of metadata will be much more sophisticated solution. Of course some people will want a simple solution and the use of folders implemented by metadata as a default makes a lot of sense. Let people add to that if they realise that the default is too simplistic

After 3 semesters of school I have a bunch of class folders on there so it would be nice if I could sort them into a folder so they could look less cluttered and only have my current semester there.
