Is it okay to wash a car with new film in the first week, or should I wait?
I picked up my white Honda CR-V yesterday with clear film on the hood, bumper and mirrors, and now I am scared to touch it. The car is covered in dust from the drive home, and my first instinct is to take it to the hand wash near my building, but the installer said something about not washing it for a while and I did not write down how long. My brother says a week is more than enough and that I am being too careful. My neighbor says the glue needs time to settle, and that washing too early can lift the edges or push water under the film. A friend at work told me to avoid pressure washers completely in the first month, especially near the corners. Another colleague said parking in the sun helps any small moisture dry out faster, but I am not sure if that is true or just something he heard. I read a page on https://paintprotectionfilm.ae/why-ppf-bubbles-form-on-car-how-to-fix/ last night about why bubbles and lifted spots form, and it explained that moisture, dust and poor curing can all play a part, which made me realise the first days matter more than I thought. That is why I have been looking for Trusted fixes for bubbles under PPF, because I want to avoid creating a problem by washing too soon. My questions are easy. How many days did you wait before the first wash? Is a gentle hand wash with a soft cloth safe, or should I only use a waterless spray at the start? Should I worry about small cloudy spots in the first week, or do they usually go away? And did your installer give you a written care sheet, or only a quick talk at pickup? Please share what you did. Thanks for reading.
