Is it normal for a Range Rover to burn a little oil between services?
I noticed something last weekend that I cannot stop thinking about. My Range Rover Sport is six years old, and when I checked the ******** before a long drive, the oil was almost a full line lower than it was after the last change, which was only about four months ago. I did not see any spots on the ground, so I do not think it is leaking. My brother in law says every engine uses a little oil and I should just top it up and not worry. But a colleague at work told me that if a car burns oil, it can mean something is wearing inside, and that people who ignore it end up with a very expensive engine problem. So now I feel stuck between relaxing and panicking. I asked a friend who has the same model, and he said his also drops a bit when he drives fast on the highway, but he is not sure if that is normal or just something people get used to. Last night I read a post where a man said a trusted Range Rover Repair garage can do a simple oil consumption test, where they note the level, you drive a set distance, and then they check again. That sounded like a fair way to know for sure instead of guessing. I wonder how many kilometers it takes to see a real difference. Also, is there a smell or smoke I should look for? I did notice a faint smell once after climbing a hill, but I could not tell if it was oil or just the engine being hot. Which oil should I use to top up if the level drops again, and is mixing brands a bad idea? I keep a bottle in the boot just in case. If you went through this, what was the reason, and did it get worse over time? Easy words are best for me. Thank you so much for reading check here https://range-rover-repair.ae.
